Mann Rele’s family recreates the Girgaon Chowpatty Ganpatui immersion. Their concept-based tableau captures one of the most emotional moments of the festival; the farewell to Lord Ganesha during immersion at Girgaon Chowpatty

The miniature display recreates the atmosphere at the immersion site, including BMC and Mumbai Police booths. The tableau also features representations of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and businessman Anant Ambani

In Parel, Parag Sawant has taken a nostalgic approach to this year’s Ganpati decoration with the theme “A Journey to Konkan on the Red Bus… "Once Upon a Time”

The miniature installation recreates the experience of travelling to Konkan in an earlier era, with the red bus serving as the central element of the display

The decoration blends the festive spirit of Ganeshotsav with memories of traditional journeys and Maharashtra’s cultural landscape

The miniature format allows the elaborate scene to be recreated within the confines of a home while retaining the storytelling element of a larger tableau

This year’s Ganpati decoration by Parag Sawant is themed as 'A Journey to Konkan on the Red Bus…Once upon a time'

Meanwhile, Kavita Patil has chosen a spiritual theme for her home Ganpati decoration in Lower Parel. Her miniature display depicts Alandi, the sacred pilgrimage town associated with Sant Dnyaneshwar

The detailed recreation brings elements of the pilgrimage town into the festive setup, highlighting its religious and cultural significance

The concept also reflects how families are using their Ganpati decorations to showcase Maharashtra’s history, spirituality and traditions

Across Mumbai, such home installations have become a distinctive part of Ganeshotsav, with families moving beyond conventional decorations to create miniature settings at their homes

The displays not only provide a backdrop for the household Ganpati but also tell stories connected to Mumbai, Maharashtra, faith and personal memories
