Some granite stones fell into a barricaded area near Mira-Bhayandar Road near Thunga Hospital in Mira Road East on Monday during ongoing debris removal and material-shifting work at Medetiya Nagar Station of Metro Line-9

A school van was not hit by the falling stones, but its tyre was later punctured after the vehicle ran over smaller pieces of granite scattered in the vicinity

Around 11.50 am on Monday, a material basket being handled by a crane accidentally came into contact with granite stones stacked in the nearby FOB area during ongoing debris removal and material-shifting work at Medetiya Nagar Station of Metro Line-9. As per the officials, the impact caused some stones to fall from the FOB level into the barricaded area

An official from the Mumbai Metro Line-9 Medetiya Nagar Station clarified that no granite stones fell on or directly struck any school van/bus in the incident

The official added, "The granite stones fell within the barricaded work area. Subsequently, a vehicle passing through the vicinity ran over some scattered pieces of granite, resulting in punctured tyres. No students were present in the vehicle and no injuries were reported."
