The civic body has advised residents to use only dry wood for the traditional bonfire and to avoid burning painted wood, plastic, rubber, tyres or any hazardous materials. It has warned that burning such items releases harmful smoke and causes air pollution, which can affect public health
Housing societies and local communities have been encouraged to organise eco-friendly celebrations, it said.
