Before heading to her office, Pawar paid tribute to Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
She will attend the weekly cabinet meeting later in the day —the first since the untimely demise of her husband and then Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar in an air crash —presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
The deputy CM also paid tributes to social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule before commencing her new role
Pawar and the other NCP leaders also paid respects to Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Earlier in the day, Pawar had visited Chaityabhoomi to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar
She was sworn in as Maharashtra’s first woman deputy CM on January 31, following Ajit Pawar's tragic death on January 28
Pawar was assigned the state excise, sports, and minority development portfolios. She has also been appointed Guardian Minister for Pune and Beed districts.
