Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar reviewed the facilities at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Tata Memorial Centre’s All-India Director Dr Sudeep Gupta, Hospital Director Dr CS Pramesh, Deputy Directors Shrikande and Siddhnath Laskar, and Hospital Superintendent Dr Vineet Samant were present for the event
Abitkar noted that cancer cases have risen sharply in recent years and said the state has been conducting screening and treatment camps across Maharashtra
The minister also said that the state has increased package rates under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and added several new diseases to the scheme, which will benefit cancer patients as well
Private hospitals empanelled under the scheme must ensure post-treatment services for cancer patients, he said
Under the National Health Mission and with technical support from Tata Cancer Care Hospitals, 26 day-care centres will be set up across district-level locations in the state
