“The Mithi river desilting work was delayed due to a court case. It only began after the second week of April. That’s the main reason for the delay. But we are confident that the cleaning will be completed by the end of May. Even the desilting of minor drains will be completed on time,” a BMC official had earlier stated

Earlier this month, Mumbai Police had arrested two people in connection with the Mithi River desilting scam. The accused include Ketan Kadam, a middleman and director of Woder India LLP, and Jayesh Joshi of Virgo Specialities Pvt Ltd, a firm that allegedly supplied equipment such as silt-pusher machines to various contractors involved in the desilting work
