According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the fire was reported at 4.14 am on Monday

The blaze was confined to electrical wiring, electrical installations, wooden furniture, tarpaulin, bamboo, and plastic materials at an adjacent temporary fruit stall

The fire also affected clothes, wooden furniture and a false ceiling in an area of approximately 50 sq ft on the fourth floor of Tirupati Banquet, a commercial building comprising a basement, ground floor and four upper floors. Aluminium and plastic decorative sheets on the exterior side of the building were also affected

The entire building was smoke-logged following the fire

According to the MFB, fire brigade personnel safely rescued 11 people through the staircase from a lodging house on the second floor

The fire was brought under control at around 6.07 am, according to the latest update received from the MFB. No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
