Mumbai has begun to gear up for the mass celebrations of the 'festival of colours'- Holi. The members of Veer Netaji Krida Mandal at BDD Chawl in Worli have made a huge effigy for Holika Dahan. Holi, in the Hindu calendar, falls in the month of Phalgun - falling between February and March. People celebrate the day with colours, water, balloons and flowers with their families and friends. Children and adults smear Gulal and colours on each other and seek blessings from their elders

Huge crowds were seen boarding express trains at Diva railway station in Thane to visit their native places for the upcoming festival. Sources said, for Holi, this year, the Mumbai Traffic Police and the city cops have planned deployment of security in the city

The railways had earlier announced that it will be running special festive trains for Holi with special festive season fares
