Elsewhere on the same road, an auto-rickshaw driver stopped to remove plastic tangled around a tyre after navigating through deep rainwater

Outside Goregaon Railway Station, commuters carefully walked through ankle-deep water as rainwater accumulated around the station premises

The monsoon also exposed Mumbai's damaged roads, with vehicles carefully negotiating potholes beneath the Times of India flyover at Malad (East), adding another layer of difficulty for commuters already dealing with heavy rain

Neighbouring Thane also remained under the grip of the monsoon, recording 77.18 mm of rainfall over 24 hours. The persistent showers added to concerns as rivers, drains and low-lying areas remained under close watch

Adding to the city's concerns, the BMC warned that a 4.26-metre high tide during the afternoon could further slow the discharge of stormwater into the sea, increasing the risk of flooding if heavy rain continued

Vehicles crawled through waterlogged lanes on the Western Express Highway at Pushpa Park in Malad (East), where continuous rainfall reduced visibility and forced motorists to move cautiously through flooded stretches

Heavy showers drenched Birsa Munda Chowk and parts of Aarey Colony in Goregaon (East) as Mumbai recorded significant rainfall over the past 24 hours, with the island city receiving 99 mm, the eastern suburbs 98 mm and the western suburbs 94 mm, according to the BMC

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that some of the city's heaviest rainfall between 8 am and 11 am was recorded in the eastern suburbs. Paspoli Powai Municipal School topped the list with 67.8 mm of rain, followed closely by Vikhroli and Mulund, where intense showers triggered widespread waterlogging

The Andheri Subway once again found itself submerged after hours of continuous rain, with waterlogging disrupting traffic on one of the city's key east-west connectors

Nearby on Swami Vivekananda Road, floodwater entered roadside shops, forcing business owners to deal with water damage as civic teams worked to clear stormwater from affected areas. To prevent accidents, the BMC temporarily closed several waterlogged roads, including the Andheri Subway, Veera Desai Road, Noor-e-Ilahi Service Road in Chembur and Huma Mall Junction in Vikhroli, urging commuters to take alternate routes.
