The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai on Thursday, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, heavy rainfall at isolated places, and gusty winds reaching 50-60 kilometres (kmph)

The city is also likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on Friday, along with occasional strong winds gusting up to 70 kmph

Rainfall activity is expected to ease over the weekend, with moderate rain and light to moderate showers forecast for the following days

Across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane and Raigad have been placed under an orange alert on Thursday, with the IMD forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Similar weather conditions are likely to persist on Friday, with strong winds reaching 50-60 kmph and gusting up to 70 kmph

Palghar is expected to witness thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rainfall on Thursday before heavy to very heavy rainfall intensifies from Friday.
