Following a few spells of rain, potholes, the bane of all commuters, have once again started appearing on the city’s tar and asphalt roads
According to experts, potholes primarily form due to water infiltration through cracks or poor drainage, which weakens the pavement structure
They have also attributed the emergence of potholes to the use of substandard construction material, lack of road maintenance and heavy traffic
Meanwhile, in an attempt to streamline pothole complaints and their quick resolution, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has launched yet another mobile application, Pothole Quickfix
The BMC has also deployed secondary engineers across all 227 wards to identify and promptly repair potholes in their respective areas
Despite civic measures and ongoing road concretisation, potholes have resurfaced across Mumbai, making monsoon commuting perilous for motorists
