The compound wall of Kaka Chawl and parts of the adjoining Persian Apartment on Vallabhbhai Patel Road in Andheri (West) collapsed around 8.30 am on Monday amid heavy rain in Mumbai. No injuries were reported in the mishap.   

According to sources, redevelopment work is underway after the incident.

Local activist and Persian Apartment resident, Amjad Khan, alleged that the builder neglected the necessary precautions while digging the pit and failed to follow basic and standard construction safety norms

Upon receiving information, the police, fire brigade, and officials from various departments rushed to the scene. However, no official statement has been issued yet regarding the steps to be taken next or accountability for the incident
