Raigad and Ratnagiri districts were also placed under a yellow alert, with residents advised to take precautions against heat exposure

Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to experience mainly clear skies, with the maximum temperature forecast to be around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 25 degrees Celsius

According to the IMD’s 8.30 am weather report, the Santacruz observatory recorded 38.2 degrees Celsius, while the Colaba observatory in South Mumbai registered 36.5 degrees Celsius

The readings highlight the intense heat across the city, with Santacruz recording a temperature above the forecast maximum for the day. High temperatures and humidity are likely to add to discomfort for residents, particularly during the afternoon

The yellow alert advises residents to remain cautious as hot conditions persist

Older people, children and those working outdoors are particularly vulnerable to heat exposure. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
