Mumbai witnessed hot weather with the temperature rising above 33 degrees Celsius on Monday. The impact of what has been delineated as the "boiling hot weather" is visible on the streets of Mumbai. The India Meteorological Department on Sunday, April 16, in a press release said that the city’s maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius.

As many as 11 people died due to a heat stroke in Navi Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, while attending the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony, which was also attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
