The drill involved teams from the Charkop unit of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Railway Protection Force (Borivali), Mumbai Police (Borivali), Railway Police Commissionerate’s Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Anti-Terrorism Bureau (ATB) Railway Mumbai and the Crime Branch Mumbai Railway Vasai unit

The drill was conducted against the backdrop of Ganeshotsav, when Mumbai’s railway stations witness a significant increase in passenger movement

With large numbers of devotees travelling across the city during the festival, security agencies have stepped up preparedness measures at railway stations and other key public spaces

The exercise also provided an opportunity for the participating agencies to assess their communication and coordination while responding to a potential security incident

Such drills are conducted to ensure that security personnel remain prepared to respond to emergencies and potential threats in crowded public places

The multi-agency participation in Thursday’s drill underlined the importance of coordinated security preparedness at railway stations during major festivals, particularly at locations witnessing heavy passenger movement.
