Mumbai on Tuesday experienced overcast skies and intermittent rainfall during the early hours bringing some relief to heat-wave like conditions since the last few weeks

Amid the prevailing wet weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Warning for Mumbai and neighbouring Raigad district, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rain and gusty winds

As per IMD nowcast warning was issued at 7:00 am on Wednesday, the orange alert for rain will remain valid for the next three hours

The warning comes as monsoon activity remains active over the region, bringing frequent spells of rain across Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and other parts of Maharashtra

Mumbai is likely to witness a maximum temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Humid conditions are expected to prevail despite intermittent rainfall activity across the city and suburbs

The weather pattern across Mumbai since last week highlighted a mix of extreme heat and rain activity across the state, with forecasts indicating continued thunderstorm chances over the next 24 hours.

Following the advisory issued by IMD earlier at 7:00 am, the weather forecasting agency highlighted that orange alert across the city is likely to be extended till 3:00 pm on Tuesday

According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), its headquarters recorded 45 mm rainfall, followed by Colaba Pumping Station and Mandvi Fire Station, which received 29 mm rainfall
