Security was tightened at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Saturday after Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange launched his 11th hunger strike at Antarwali Sarati, raising a fresh demand for the abolition of caste verification committees in Maharashtra. With Jarange warning that the agitation could move towards Mumbai if demands related to Kunbi certificates are not addressed, police have stepped up security and restricted protest activity at Azad Maidan.
