Members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) were detained by Mumbai Police during a protest outside Azad Maidan on Saturday. The demonstrators condemned the Delhi Police's action of shifting activist Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital from his hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. Wangchuk's wife later said his condition was stable but alleged a lack of transparency in his medical treatment while insisting that the planned Parliament march on July 20 would go ahead as planned. Wangchuk had been on an indefinite hunger strike in Delhi since June 28 in support of the CJP-led protest over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the alleged deaths of students linked to the controvers

On Saturday morning, he was shifted to the Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital after his health deteriorated on the 21st day of the stir, with the police citing medical advice and directions of the Delhi High Court

Meanwhile, Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali J Angmo said he is "absolutely fine" but the Safdarjung Hospital has declined to share copies of medical reports despite repeated requests. She also asserted that the Parliament march will go ahead as planned on July 20 with his participation

Angmo has also communicated to the hospital authorities that no medical treatment should be administered to the activist without her consent

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma said Wangchuk was shifted from his protest site at Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital in compliance with the the high court's directions and on the advice of medical experts following concerns over his deteriorating health
