The candidate of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Rutuja Latke won the bypoll of Andheri East assembly seat on Sunday. The counting of votes began at 8 am at a civic-run school in the city. Rutuja Latke, the wife of late Sena leader Ramesh Latke was expected to win the byelection comfortably after the BJP withdrew its candidate from the bypoll. Pics/ Rane Ashish

The Andheri byelection was the first electoral contest in Maharashtra after the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government collapsed in June following a revolt by a section of the party's MLAs led by Eknath Shinde.
