Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata on high alert after Pune serial blasts

A high alert has been issued in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata following Wednesday's low-intensity blasts in Pune

Delhi has been put on heightened vigil with the deployment of armed police personnel across the city. Roads were barricaded and vehicles were checked, while security was strengthened at vital installations like the Parliament and other key buildings.

In Kolkata, radio flying squads have been asked to maintain vigil in all sensitive areas of the city.

Maharashtra Home Minister R. R. Patil, who visited the spots last night, said that the home department has taken the matter very seriously, and added that all the investigating agencies have been put on the task.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that a probe was on into the blast that occurred in Pune.
