<div><b><span style="font-size: 12pt">Dongri doctor, nabbed earlier for possessing two fake notes, complains to police chief that sub-inspector from Pydhonie police station asked him to grease his palm or face arrest in fake currency racket with links to terrorists</span></b></div>  <div><br />A sub-inspector attached to Pydhonie police station has been caught on camera while allegedly making a demand of Rs 25,000 from a Dongri-based doctor in exchange for not framing him in a counterfeit currency case. In April last year, the Pydhonie police had arrested me after I was found in possession of two fake notes. It's been nine months now and they haven't bothered to file a charge sheet."u00a0</div>  <div><br /></div>  <div>He continued, "I went to meet Sanab recently and he threatened me, saying that if I do not pay him Rs 25,000, he would add a letter written by some terrorist called Zarrar to my charge sheet, and brand me a terrorist as well." u00a0Sources from Pydhonie police station revealed that there is no such letter in their custody.u00a0<br /></div>  <div><br />  <div><img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/feb/Suddam.jpg" border="5" /><br /><i><span style="font-size: 8pt"><b>Cop or extortionist?</b> Sub-inspector Suddam Sanab</span></i></div><br /></div>  <div><b>ACB's failed trap</b></div>  <div>According to Fayzan, the demand was made in November 2011, after which he approached the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB officials asked him to arrange for the bribe amount to trap the police officer, but Fayzan could manage only Rs 10,000 from his savings at that time.u00a0</div>  <div><br /></div>  <div>Nonetheless, following the ACB's instructions, he met Sanab in a coffee shop at Dadar.u00a0"But Sanab refused to collect the amount in instalments and the trap failed. Since I could not arrange for the entire amount, the ACB investigations were put on hold," said Fayzan.u00a0</div>  <div><br /></div>  <div>Confirming the reports about the trap, ACP B Bhansod said, "I would not like to divulge the details since the matter is still under scrutiny."u00a0Asked why the ACB has not helped Fayzan to arrange for the total bribe money, Bhansod said, "If the amount is small the ACB arranges for it. In this case, the amount was big." He added, "Even if the complainant pays from his pocket for the bribe, the court returns the cash in a month's time."</div>  <div><br /></div>  <div>Irked with the catch, on January 30, Fayzan dropped a letter in the complaint box at the police commissioner's office at Crawford Market area, and submitted another to the Additional Police Commissioner (South Region) Naval Bajaj.u00a0"I hope the commissioner responds to my complaint and takes the necessary action.
