<p>Over 10 kg of ganja was seized from a parcel in the cargo section of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in <strong><a href="https://mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-22-year-old-drowns-in-swimming-pool-during-birthday-party-in-nagpur-23532477" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Nagpur</a></strong>, an officer said on Sunday.</p>
<p>During a routine check, airport security personnel detected a parcel emitting a strong odour. Upon inspection, police discovered 10.28 kg of ganja inside, news agency PTI reported.</p>
<p>The contraband had been sent from a gym in <strong><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/amp/news/india-news/article/odisha-3-dead-as-slab-of-under-construction-bridge-collapses-in-cuttack-23535004" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Odisha </a></strong>to a fictitious address in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The parcel arrived by road and was scheduled to be flown to Delhi. The gym owner has denied any involvement in the incident.</p>
<p>A case has been filed under the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/ncb-busts-clandestine-drug-lab-in-mumbai-seizes-rs-50-crore-worth-of-mephedrone-23507626" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>Narcotic Drugs</strong></a> and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is ongoing, the officer added.</p>
<h2>Tripura: Two women arrested with 4 kg of cannabis at Agartala Railway Station</h2>
<p>In a joint operation by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/amp/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-two-days-after-western-railway-razed-80-illegal-slums-in-borivali-shacks-are-back-23533082" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>Government Railway Police (GRP) </strong></a>and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), two women were arrested at Agartala Railway Station for attempting to smuggle over 4 kg of cannabis, police said on Sunday.</p>
<p>The accused, identified as Rasuan Devi, 25, and 30-year-old Ranju Devi, both from Katihar district in Bihar, were allegedly attempting to transport the drugs to Delhi via train. The contraband, weighing 4 kg 405 grams, was neatly packed in eight packets and concealed in two handbags, reported news agency ANI.</p>
<p>This is the first such incident reported at the station. However, during police interrogation, the duo admitted to having carried cannabis on five previous occasions via train.</p>
<p>The seized cannabis is estimated to be worth around Rs 50,000 in the Delhi market.</p>
<p>A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Agartala GRP Police Station. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger network and expect more arrests in the coming days.</p>
<h2>Drugs found hidden in puja room of house in Kerala&rsquo;s Kannur district</h2>
<p>Police in Kerala&rsquo;s Kannur district seized 1.2 kilogrammes of ganja and five grams of MDMA drug from the puja room of a house in Thalassery during a raid on Saturday, PTI reported.</p>
<p>The house is owned by a man identified as Renil, who managed to flee the scene when police arrived, officers said on Sunday.</p>
<p>A police team had earlier conducted a search at the same residence three days ago following a tip-off but did not find any contraband at the time. During the second raid on Saturday, the narcotics were discovered hidden in the puja room, they said.</p>
<p>Renil's brother reportedly told police that drugs were being sold from the house, investigators added. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused.</p>
