Two bikers injured in accident

A drunk driver of a Maruti Esteem was brutally beaten up by a mob after he rammed his car into a motorcycle and dragged the two bikers reportedly for 500 metres in Sarai Rohilla area of north Delhi area late on Sunday night. The car driver was then attacked and beaten up by an angry mob.

"Umesh was in an inebriated condition. He was drunk and was badly injured as the mob thrashed him. He is not in a condition to give us any statement. His car was vandalised by the mob. We don't know what exactly happened. Some eyewitnesses are claiming that he rammed his car into the bike on which Arun and Dev were travelling. Both fell down but the car kept dragging them along before coming to a halt. Umesh lost control over the vehicle which also collided with the divider after which he was caught and beaten up by the mob," said a senior police officer.

The officer said that Arun and Dev were undergoing treatment in a government hospital. Police said they will lodge an FIR after taking the statements of Arun, Dev and Umesh.Liquors bottles and empty glasses were found from the car.

Out of gear

An inspector of Delhi police rammed his Accent car into a stationed Lancer car and then threatened local people saying he would open fire from his pistol if anyone dared to catch him. He told the mob that he was an SHO.

"Surender Dev is posted with the Police Training College (PTC). When he was driving his car in an inebriated condition, he lost control and rammed his four-wheeler into a parked Lancer," said an officer.
