Maharashtra CM fails to pay Rs 1.32 lakh water bill
Updated On: 24 March, 2013 09:10 PM IST | | Sujit Mahamulkar
CM Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar owe Rs 1,31,823 and Rs 44,567 respectively to the BMC. Yet, no one has dared stop water supply to either Chavan or Pawar's bungalows in Malabar Hill till now. Ordinary citizens, of course, are not above the law. The BMC has so far disconnected water supply to 750 residential and commercial premises for non-payment of water taxes
Does the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have different sets of rules for citizens, depending on their social and political status? Or do the chief minister and his deputy need water more than their fellow citizens?

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan
