The Maharashtra government will organise a series of programmes next year to mark the birth centenary of veteran singer and musician Sudhir Phadke. The programmes will commence from July 25, 2018, state culture minister Vinod Tawde said at an event last night. Phadke, an accomplished Marathi singer-composer, was born in 1919. He died in 2002. He was regarded as an icon of the Marathi film industry. Apart from Marathi, Phadke sang and composed songs in several Hindi films as well.
