Let's face it. A restaurant called Naughty Johnny'su00a0 Takeaway doesn't exactly make you salivate. It sounds like a playschool at best, and a pretentious toy store at worst.

But we couldn't have been more off the mark.

The first surprise came when we called in for directions to Bandra's latest takeaway joint.

Twenty minutes later, they called to ask if we were having difficulty finding the place. We explained that we were still a long way off.

Standing in the narrow alley off Chapel Road, the joint is easy to miss. But their helpful instructions ("opposite Speed Business Centre and next to King's Salon") helped us spot it.

It was a balmy evening so we chose to sit outside right in between someone's courtyard, two parked cars and a tiny chapel.

From their photocopied menu, we picked Babycorn /Mushroom In Honey Sauce (Rs 65) and Mixed Kebab Platter (Rs 250).

The waiter came back to say we didn't have to pick one out of Babycorn and Mushroom; the dish would arrive with both veggies.

Sadly, we couldn't really tell the honey in the sauce, but it was yummy nevertheless. The Kebabs took a while to arrive but they were worth the wait.

The Prawn Kebabs were delicious, as were the Chicken Hariyali. The Chicken Tikka and the Malai Kebab could do with a bit more spunk. At 20 chunky bites, it was quite a lot to finish.

Next up was Chicken Shwarma (Rs 40) (it's not listed on the menu). It's not the best we've had but was large enough for two of us to share it.

For the main course, they suggested the Triple Schezwan (Rs 90), an interesting combination of Schezwan fried rice and crisp fried noodles topped with Schezwan sauce.

Chicken Hot Garlic (Rs 80) on the side is a good idea only if you have a cast iron stomach. They don't have desserts yet, but a friendly waiter called Debu is happy to run out for ice cream if you'd like a scoop.

AT: Naughty Johnny's Takeaway, Chapel Road, next to King's salon, Bandra (W).
