State to appoint 645 land surveyors, peons

Survey of around 30,000 pending land records across the state will finally see the light of the day, as the state government has given a nod to appoint 645 surveyors to overcome the shortage in the Department of Survey Settlement and Land Records

The Settlement Commissioner and Director of Land Records, Chandrakant Dalvi, yesterday also announced that the two vacant posts of deputy director of land records have been filled up, and thus there is no vacant posts of deputy director in the department. “We have ten deputy director posts in the department across the state; out of which two post were vacant for many years. These have now been filled up. Therefore, every district will have a land record head. Apart from this, 645 surveyors and peons would be appointed soon.

This will help in speeding up the long pending 30,000 land record cases in the state, out of which 9,000 are from Pune district,” said Dalvi. Speaking about the ambitious project of re-survey, Dalvi said out of twelve villages of Mulshi Taluka in Pune district, the re-surveying work of six villages has concluded, while the work in the remaining six villages is still ongoing.u00a0
