In the wake of the Ahmedabad Place Crash, which has severely impacted air travel in and out of the city, the Western Railway (WR) has stepped in to provide crucial alternative transport options by launching two Superfast Special Trains connecting Ahmedabad with Mumbai and Delhi.
The move comes as authorities work to manage the surge in passenger demand and restore mobility for those stranded or rerouting owing to flight disruptions.
According to Vineet Abhishek, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the special trains are being introduced on a special fare basis to ensure connectivity with two of the country’s busiest metropolitan hubs.
The Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central service will operate two trips. The outbound journey, departing from Ahmedabad on Thursday at 11.55 pm, is scheduled to arrive at Mumbai Central at 8.10 am the following day. This route will include intermediate stops at Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali stations in both directions. Passengers on this service will have the option of AC 3-Tier and AC Chair Car coaches.
In addition to this, Western Railway will also operate the Ahmedabad–Delhi Junction Superfast Special. This train will depart from Ahmedabad on Thursday at 11.45 pm and arrive at Delhi Junction at 2.30 pm the following day.
The return journey from Delhi Junction will commence on Friday at 5.30 pm and the train will reach Ahmedabad at 8.30 am the next morning.
