The Air India group on Friday announced that, effective 26 October, some domestic flights at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will be relocated due to ongoing Terminal 3 (T3) expansion works by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL).
As part of the expansion plan, Air India will move 60 of its 180 daily domestic departures to Terminal 2 (T2), while Air India Express will operate all its domestic flights from the newly upgraded Terminal 1 (T1). International flights for both the airlines will continue to operate from T3.
To help passengers identify T2 flights, Air India has renumbered these flights in four digits starting with ‘1’ (for example, AI1737, AI1787).
Inter-terminal transfers will be available for passengers with connecting flights between T1, T2, and T3. Delhi International Airport will provide a free shuttle every 10 minutes, and passengers with reduced mobility or special assistance needs can also use a buggy service. Checked baggage for connecting passengers will be transferred airside, eliminating the need to collect and recheck luggage.
Air India will notify affected passengers via registered contact details.
Additional ground staff wearing identifiable t-shirts will assist passengers in navigating the terminals. The airline has appealed to passengers to verify flight and terminal details through the official airline websites, mobile apps, or 24x7 customer service channels.
