After the tensions eased at the border between India and Pakistan, state police forces and national agencies are now on the run to get hold of people involved in anti-national activities. Several arrests made over the last few days related to spying and cyberattacking Indian websites. Andhra Pradesh police recently apprehended two individuals who manufactured explosives from their own premises. The court on Thursday, 22 May, sent both the terror suspects to seven-day police custody, an official said.
As reported by PTI, the two suspects, Siraj Ur Rehman (29) and Syed Sameer (28), were arrested in a joint operation by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police on Saturday with explosives. The joint operation by police forces was performed with sheer operation, and they were able to catch hold of the suspects at their premises with explosives.
After detaining them on their premises, Andhra Pradesh police brought both of the accused to court.
"The court granted seven-day custody of Rehman and Sameer to police," Vizianagaram Additional Superintendent of Police Sowmya Lata told PTI on Thursday.
Both the accused, Siraj Ur Rehman and Syed Sameer, are currently locked in Visakhapatnam Central Prison.
Adding to the information, Vizinagram ASP further stated, "If we receive orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency. Until then, police will interrogate them during the custody."
Siraj Ur Rehman was arrested after a tip-off. When the state police officials reached his premises, a huge amount of explosives like ammonia, sulphur and aluminium powder were recovered during the search operation, police said.
Furthermore, the police officials also stated, "Based on his confession about making a bomb, Sameer was arrested from Boiguda in Hyderabad in a joint operation with Telangana Police."
PTI reports that a case has been registered against Siraj Ur Rehman and Syed Sameer under the Explosive Substances Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
