File pic While the landslide victory of the JD(U) led by Nitish Kumar, in Bihar, could have inspired the mining lords to go for a political experiment in the state, their political friend Jaganmohan Reddy's quitting Congress to launch his own party in Andhra Pradesh definitely has a bearing on the Reddys' move. "While the party wants financial support from them, they feel that their voice is not being heard. Now, they are thinking of promoting a party that would be under their control in the state and JD(U) is an option," said a source. He said the idea was still preliminary and the Reddys were in touch with Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav, while they were weighing other options as well. As a first step they would approach the party high command, shortly, with a fresh demand of change in leadership and would decide on the further course of action depending on the response. "Right now, they are not willing to leave the party and the plan is to explore all possible avenues before taking the decision," said the source. Another option before them is to join hands with Jaganmohan and to launch a unit of his party in the state. But, they want to tread this path cautiously because they don't want to stick to the Telugu image, as it will not help in establishing a broad support base in the state. Their inclination is to project their trusted lieutenant Sriramulu, health minister and leader from the politically strong Nayak community, as a leader to have a strong political platform and then having alliance with Jagan Reddy. Although speculations are rife that the Reddys have approached the local JD(U) leaders including MP Nadagoud, no one wants to openly confirm it. Nadagoud said he didn't want to comment.
