Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his vote fraud allegations against the Election Commission. Slamming Gandhi’s claims, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Manan Kumar Mishra said that he has no evidence, which is why he is making allegations against the Election Commission, news agency ANI reported.
Mishra further stated that the public knows that there is no proof of ‘vote chori’ and Gandhi is just misleading Indians.
Speaking to the media, Mishra said, "The result of the whole press conference was nothing... There is no evidence. Rahul Gandhi always talks nonsense... The public will not be affected by this... There is no evidence of how the software was manipulated."
"He is placing oral allegations... There is no importance of that in the eyes of the law... The public knows he has no evidence; that is why he is putting allegations on a constitutional body like the Election Commission," he further stated, according to ANI.
Earlier in the day, the senior Congress leader slammed the Election Commission of India for allegedly "not cooperating" with the voter fraud investigation opened up by the Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (Karnataka CID) in the Aland Assembly segment in Kalaburagi district, ANI reported.
Gandhi also claimed that the investigation into the alleged fraud has been stalled for over two years as the poll body is not replying to the letters sent by the CID, calling it "proof" that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is "protecting vote chors (vote thieves)", ANI reported.
Meanwhile, the poll dismissed all the allegations made by Gandhi, mentioning that no the names of the voters cannot be deleted by a member of the public online.
In its reply to the Lok Sabha MP, the poll body said, "Allegations made by Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Rahul Gandhi. No deletion can take place without giving an opportunity to be heard to the affected person."
The Election Commission also stated that the allegations made by Gandhi against Kumar are baseless and incorrect.
