Cabinet approves proposal to amend Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016

The 7 amendments aim to fill critical gaps in the corporate insolvency resolution framework as enshrined in the Code

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to carry out 7 amendments to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

According to an official statement, the amendments aim to fill critical gaps in the corporate insolvency resolution framework as enshrined in the Code, while simultaneously maximizing value from the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CRIP).
