In a major crackdown, Jammu Kashmir Police detained a Mewat preacher from Haryana for his alleged role in a ‘white-collar’ terror module tied to the Red Fort blast. Over 2,500 kg of explosives were recovered from his rented home in Faridabad

In view of cracking down on the terror modules across India, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday detained a preacher from Mewat in Haryana. The accused has been detained in connection with the 'white collar' terror module operating from a university in Faridabad, officials said.
As reported by the news agency PTI, the accused, named Maulvi Ishtiyaq, has been brought to Srinagar. He was allegedly staying in a rented house within the Al Falah University complex in Faridabad. During the search operations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered more than 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate and sulphur from his home, the officials said.
As per the reports, the accused, from whom high-quality explosive-making material has been recovered, is likely to be placed under arrest.
If the accused gets arrested, he will be the ninth person to be nabbed in the case by police, who carried out an interstate raid on November 10 along with their counterparts in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The police, along with other investigation agencies, are on a mission to unravel a 'white-collar' terror network of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
As reported by news agency PTI, the explosive material was stored at his rented residence by Dr Muzammil Ganaie, alias Musaib, and Dr Umar Nabi, the man who was driving an explosives-laden car which detonated outside Red Fort on Monday evening, killing 12 people.

The death toll in the blast near Red Fort rose to 12 on Tuesday, with three more people succumbing to injuries, police said.
A powerful explosion ripped through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. Till Monday night, nine people were confirmed to have died in the blast, and 20 others were injured.
Earlier on Tuesday, police, along with other agencies, investigated the Red Fort blast as a possible terror attack and zeroed in on a Pulwama doctor, who was driving the car that exploded and had links to a terror module busted with the recovery of explosives mainly from Faridabad.
