Crime reporter and air hostess arrested for duping young job seekers

Profile does matter, especially when you are using it as a bait to catch unsuspecting job seekers.
Sumit Barara, 23, and Jahnavi, 21, knew it too well.

Sumit and Jahnavi used to steal data about jobless youths from Naukri.com
and issued fake joining letters

Sumit, a crime reporter with a local news channel, and Jahnavi, an air hostess with a reputed air carrier, had the perfect plan to dupe those who were young and restless for a job.

The Delhi police arrested the couple on Thursday for duping at least 150 young job seekers who were promised lucrative jobs in multi-national companies.

"Sumit worked as a crime reporter in a news channel in Ghaziabad and his wife Jahnavi worked as an air hostess

How they were caught

According to the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur, "The arrests came following a complaint filed by Satwant Singh of Moser Baer India Ltd who reported that one Pooja Gupta was cheating people on the pretext of providing them jobs for the posts of engineer and manager in their company.
"She was asking job seekers to deposit Rs 6,865 in an account. She also gave a mobile number to contact her. Even fake joining letters were issued to them," he added.
During investigations, it came to light that the gang was operating from Munirka and the couple was arrested on Tuesday. The couple told the police that they, along with Suraj and Manpreet, both residents of Ghaziabad, have cheated more than 100 job seekers on the pretext of offering jobs in various MNCs through e-mail.
