A day after Rahul Gandhi alleged flaws in the electoral process and “vote theft” in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura, the Election Commission said no political party has filed claims or objections over Bihar’s draft rolls. The EC confirmed receiving 6,257 objections from electors and assured no eligible voter will be excluded in the final list.

After Rahul Gandhi blasted a bomb over electoral roll revision and ‘vote chori’ during a press conference in Delhi yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) on Friday yet again said that not even a single claim or objection has been submitted by any political party regarding the draft electoral rolls in Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed the election commission and the NDA government over ‘vote chori’ in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency and indicated that there are a lot of flaws within the election process which is making the democracy of this country a lot weaker.
While addressing the press conference, Rahul Gandhi said, “Congress won other seats while the BJP swept Mahadevapura.”
However, just a few minutes after Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the poll fraud, EC said that there has not been any formal complaint filed by any political party as of yet on Thursday.
While Rahul Gandhi’s press conference ignited the heat amid the political spectrum, the EC on Friday issued a statement saying that, “It has been over a week since the EC asked to submit claims and objections to rectify any errors in the draft electoral roll of Bihar, which was published on August 1,” as cited by news agency ANI.
Moreover, the Election Commission has been repeatedly asserting that no eligible elector will be left out and no ineligible elector will be included in the final electoral roll of Bihar.
However, the EC has received 6,257 claims and objections directly from the electors with respect to the draft roll till today, said the ECI in a daily bulletin on the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar. Forms received from new electors on attaining 18 years of age or above are 36,060.
As per the rules, the claims and objections are to be disposed of by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (ERO/AERO) after the expiry of 7 days.
In accordance with SIR orders, the ERO/AERO is prohibited from deleting any name from the draft list published on August 1 without adopting a speaking order after conducting an inquiry and providing a fair and reasonable opportunity, as per the news agency ANI.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar has sparked a political dispute, with the opposition INDIA bloc alleging that the revision procedure could result in the deletion of a significant number of voters.
The opposition has been agitating in the Parliament since the commencement of this year's monsoon session and demanding a discussion regarding the Bihar SIR.
Presenting Congress's research on voting in the Mahadevapura Assembly in Karnataka, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha alleged "vote chori" (vote theft) of 100,250 votes.
