A fortnight after MiD DAY reported that Chinese infiltrators are making their base in Arunachal Pradesh, the north-eastern state saw the first arrest of a Chinese spy on Saturday after he trailed into a village in downtown Itanagar.
Manik Gogoi, deputy commissioner of police (Arunachal Pradesh) confirmed the arrest, but refused to divulge details citing security concerns.

The spy, whose name has been withheld, was nabbed from Digaru Ghat. He reportedly told investigators that he was a computer expert and was under pressure to slip into Arunachal Pradesh.
The state shares a 2,000- km long border with China and the porous border makes it easy for trained spies to gain entry into India.
A civil contractor from Itanagar told MiD DAY that he suspects a few Chinese labourers are working at his site.
"The infiltrators are highly trained, which is why they do not leave any trail behind. Moreover, it's difficult to weed them out from the tribals living in mountains," he added.
These infiltrators bribe tribals by giving them a cement bag, which costs around Rs 3,000. In return, the tribals either spy for the Chinese or help a few of them slip across, officials said.u00a0u00a0

All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union President Takam Tatung said, "Chinese spies are in the city and are providing details of ongoing development to the Chinese government, but India has no strategy to stop them."
