Five people were killed on the spot in an accident on the old Pune-Mumbai highway (National Highway 4) on Saturday after the driver of their car lost control of it and hit a truck.

Collided with a tempo
On Sunday, another of the injured persons succumbed to her injuries, taking the total death toll to six. Around seven persons, including six women were travelling in the vehicle when it collided with a tempo in front of the Police Training School (PTS) in Khandala on Saturday at around 9 pm. The seventh person is undergoing treatment and is said to be in a critical condition.
All were employees of a hotel
All the seven persons were employed in a hotel in Lonavala and hailed from Sikkim. They were being dropped home by the hotel’s official drop facility when the incident took place.
The five deceased have been identified as Puja Gaikwad, 23, Trishala Sagdam, 29, Savita Rai, 23, Sovit Rai, 29, and Gulab Memon, 30. Rima Bajala, 22, died on Sunday. Three persons present in the tempo were also injured. Lonavala police said that the case was being investigated further.
