Godliness is back, with gender-sensitive greatness. Lord Ram, Sita and Hanuman every character in the Ramayana embodies the epitome of unmoved ethics, sacrifice, unconditional loyalty and virtues that every father wants to see in his son, every mother aims to impart in her daughter and every friend calls true friendship. Plus, the victory of good over evil never ceases to lose its relevance. That's the reason why the face of Ramlila never developed wrinkles of infamy, or got wiped away by technology. This year, too, the dramatised version of the pious play will be as enthralling as ever.

Changing the norm
Like previous years, this year too, the event will be a visual spectacle something that Delhi can proudly boast of. Every three years, the entire cast and crew is changed. The training starts in the month of July. This year, Rakesh Saibabu will play the lead character of Ram, Vidya Sharma plays his better half Sita, Ghanshayam Khichi gets into the Ravana act, while Shibhu Ram portrays Laxman. Shashi Nayyar has choreographed the entire event.
Taking the tech route
To accentuate the fun part, two new features have been added.
"A power point presentation will run along with the show. The presentation highlights the various instances in the epic, which includes Ahilya turning stone cold, demons fighting the final battle, and one of Dashrat's wives consuming vish among others, which people might have difficulty in understanding," says Shobha Deepak Singh, director Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra. This apart, the language of the script has been changed from Hindi to Avadhi to add different flavours. Plus, the three-hour show will be from start to finish, just like a movie show.
They claim to be the longest running of their sort. Lambi race ka ghoda, eh?
