Bloggers are commenting on reports that Chinese hackers have broken into 1,295 computers of companies, individuals, and governments in at least 103 countries. 
"We already know they have broken into our government's computer on several occasions -- including those of the US Congress. If the Chinese can hack the Dalai Lama's computer u2026 then they can get into yours and mine," says blogger <a href="http://theblackkettle.blogspot.com/2009/03/is-your-computer-safe-from-chinese.html">Black Kettle</a>.u00a0 
"Like with any other piece of Maleware, machines can be infected when users either click on an email attachment or a website which installs code onto the client device, allowing commands to be sent to the machine remotely, temporarily taking control of," says blogger <a href="http://worldofitblog.wordpress.com/2009/03/30/vast-global-spy-network-discovered/" target="_blank">David</a>u00a0who claims to be an IT manager. 
 "In the attacks tracked by the Canadian researchers, the installed software provided near-complete control over the victims' computers. The attackers could search for and steal sensitive files, capture passwords to Web sites, and even activate a computer's Web camera if they desired. The victims were typically unaware that someone else could control their computers," says blogger <a href="http://pumabydesign001.wordpress.com/2009/03/29/researchers-say-they-uncover-international-cyber-spy-network/" target="_blank">Puma Bu Design</a>. "What is this world coming to?," this <a href="http://richthedj.blogspot.com/2009/03/cyber-spies-break-into-govt-computers.html" target="_blank">blogger</a>u00a0asks. u00a0 "This means I will have to take extra security measures with my blog. Why, with these cyber spies out there, they could try and break in and steal my library of Henny Youngman and Rodney Dangerfield liners that I have stolen through the years," says the blogger.
"I suspect more than trying to digitally burglarize the Dalai Lama's computers for specifics, the purpose appears to be to let the Tibetans know that they are not safe," argues blogger <a href="http://southasiadaily.blogspot.com/2009/03/hacking-dalai-lama.html" target="_blank">Mayak Chhaya</a>.u00a0 "The primary purpose appears to be to keep them anxious and in the process disrupt their cause. Whatever be the motivation it is yet another example of the permanent Chinese paranoia about an avowedly peaceful monk. If the Chinese could bar my personal as well news websites, both rather limited in their reach, influence and appeal, I am not surprised that they would go to great lengths to checkmate the Dalai Lama, whom it describes as a beast," he concludes.
