This murder has an unnatural complexion; and it has stumped the cops. The body of Ram Nath Singhla, a Chandigarh businessman, was found inside his car, wrapped in three long pieces of cloth, each of a different colour. The body was discovered in Ganesh Nagar area of east Delhi.

"The killer had first wrapped Singhla's body in a white cloth. He then did the same with a red and a yellow sheet. We had some difficulty in untying the knots. Prima facie it appears that the killer was known to the victim," said a senior police officer.

Additional deputy commissioner of police IB Rani said that Ram Nath Singhla had a business in Chandigarh; he lived with his family in Safdarjung area of south Delhi. He had been missing for two days and a complaint had been lodged at Shakarpur police station on Monday night.

"Sunita, a vegetable vendor, discovered the body and called the police. A case of murder has now been lodged at Shakarpur police station," said the official.Meanwhile, a police source said that preliminary investigations suggest a property dispute could be the motive.

Ex-Corporeter on Murder trial

A trial court framed charges against a former MCD councillor and his associates this week for allegedly murdering a property dealer three years ago as he felt that the victim had spoilt his political career by lodging a corruption complaint against him with the CBI.
Additional Sessions Judge Madhu Jain ordered that Ashok Jain and nine of his aides would be tried for the murder of property dealer Vijay Singh on September 29, 2007, in north Delhi. The framing of charges under criminal conspiracy and murder paves the way for the beginning of trial in the case.
