Maharashtra’s primary teachers will donate one day’s salary to support flood victims, with funds routed through the state government. School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse praised the gesture

In a compassionate move to support those affected by the devastating floods in Maharashtra, primary teachers across the state have decided to donate one day’s salary to aid relief efforts.
Various parts of Maharashtra faced severe destruction as heavy rains devastated the infrastructure and majorly affected the agricultural activities. The situation across the state has been concerning since then. The unseasonal rains across the state devastated several parts of rural Maharashtra. Farmlands have been washed away, and crops have been destroyed on a large scale.
In view of doing something for a better cause, the Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Central Association will be donating their one-day salary. The association, led by General Secretary Rajesh Surve and State President Shri Keshavrao Jadhav, formally conveyed this decision in a statement submitted to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and School Education Minister.
Furthermore, the association also urged that the collected funds be utilised directly for the welfare of flood victims through the state government.
Responding to the gesture, School Education Minister Hon. Dadaji Bhuse expressed deep gratitude towards the teaching community.
“The teaching staff always comes to the rescue in difficult times in society. This contribution of teachers is definitely inspiring,” the minister added.
Raj Thackeray writes a letter to CM Fadnavis in view of Maharashtra floods
Earlier on Wednesday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister urging immediate action to support farmers who have suffered heavy losses due to continuous and extreme rainfall in parts of the state.

While writing the letter to CM Fadnavis, Raj Thackeray posted on X, “The unseasonal rains, which began in mid-May, have devastated several parts of rural Maharashtra.”
MNS chief Raj Thackeray, while urging the Chief Minister to help those who suffered losses, also demanded the state government announce a state-wide wet drought without applying strict eligibility criteria.
The MNS chief further criticised the current compensation of Rs 7,000-Rs 8,000 per acre as inadequate and demanded a minimum compensation of Rs 30,000 per acre, stating that it will take at least a year for farmers to recover.
Concluding his statement, Raj Thackeray asserted that the ministers should not go to Delhi only for political issues but also for the welfare of the state.
