Amravati: Maharashtra Government will strive to lessen the impact of malnutrition on children in Melghat region, state Women and Child Development Minister Pankaja Munde said today.
Pankaja was speaking at a rally in Chikhaldara here for the launch of Melghat Bal Samriddhi Yojana under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme.

The state Minister for Women, Child Development and Rural Development recalled her late father Gopinath Munde's visit to the region in the 90s, and said that like her father, she too is "serious" about the malnutrition issue.
Noting that women are "creators of the universe", Pankaja exuded confidence that the new scheme will ameliorate the lot of Melghat's mothers and kids.
"They (women) are honest, good planners and efficient," she noted and assured justice to women working as farm and forest labourers. She said there is scope to strengthen women's self-help groups (SHGs) in the region and underlined the need to impart education to children in a playful atmosphere.
Melghat BJP MLA Prabhudas Bhilawekar highlighted his constituency's problems and demanded uninterrupted electricity, all-season roads, toilets for girls in ashram schools and a 100-bed hospital.
