The skies reverberated with the chants of “Shambhuraje, Shambhuraje!” as saffron flags fluttered, thousands of dhols and tashas roared in unison, and traditional martial arts performances electrified the atmosphere at Moshi in Maharashtra's Pune.
The occasion was a grand tribute to Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at the world’s tallest statue dedicated to him — the Statue of Hindubhushan.
Organised by the Hindubhushan Memorial Trust in association with the Maharashtra State Dhol-Tasha Federation, the event witnessed record participation despite heavy rain showers, under the leadership of Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge.
More than 3,000 dhols, 1,000 tashas and 500 saffron flags created an awe-inspiring salute, while renowned singer Avdhut Gandhi offered soul-stirring Shiv Geets that moved thousands of Shiv-Shambhu devotees present.
Professor Indrajit Bhosale said, "The Trust’s vision is to spread the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj — valour, knowledge, faith, and the defence of Swarajya — across future generations and the world."

More than 100 renowned dhol-tasha groups from across Maharashtra participated, supported by meticulous planning that ensured facilities like parking, food, drinking water, and medical care for the massive crowd. Devotees from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and adjoining areas thronged the venue to witness the once-in-a-lifetime moment.
The salute was officially recognised by the London Book of Records, which honoured the Hindubhushan Memorial Trust with certificates for the unprecedented scale of participation and for hosting the world’s tallest Sambhaji Maharaj statue, informed the organiser.
The event also featured martial arts demonstrations, devotional kirtans by the Chikhali Santpeeth, and the powerful recitation of a child Shiv devotee.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Mahesh Landge declared that the Trust would not only preserve the thoughts of Sambhaji Maharaj but also take an aggressive stand against social injustice, vowing, “If atrocities are committed against our mothers and sisters, we will not remain silent — the perpetrators will face the people’s wrath.”
