Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday visited the areas hit by heavy rainfall, where he interacted with farmers and reviewed the damage caused by the downpour.
Several districts in the state have witnessed continuous heavy rains, leading to flood-like conditions and prompting large-scale rescue and relief operations. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been active in Beed, Dharashiv, and Solapur districts since Monday night.
During his visit, CM Fadnavis inspected Aurad Shahajani in Nilanga taluka and Ujani in Ausa taluka of Latur district, as well as Darfal and Nimgaon in Madha taluka of Solapur district, news agency ANI reported.
Speaking to reporters in Latur, Fadnavis said, "The people who have suffered losses will be compensated before Diwali."
According to government sources, the Maharashtra government has announced a Rs 1,339 -crore assistance package for farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains between June and August 2025, ANI reported.
Earlier, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar visited flood-affected areas in Solapur, assessed crop losses, and spoke with farmers. He instructed local authorities to ensure speedy relief measures.
In a post on X, Pawar wrote, "Today, the inspection tour of the flood situation in Solapur was started from Korti in Karmala taluka. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, there has been significant damage to crops. In this context, I went directly to the fields to inspect the crops. I directly interacted with the farmers to understand their problems and gathered information about the damage that had occurred."
He added, "I gave clear instructions that the administration should make meticulous planning and promptly implement the necessary measures to ensure immediate assistance reaches the farmers in the flood-affected areas. Our government stands firmly behind our farmer brothers."
Meanwhile, ministers and legislators from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have decided to donate one month's salary to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by floods in Maharashtra, news agency PTI reported.
The BJP and the NCP also announced that their Members of Parliament will contribute a month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Heavy rainfall has caused widespread destruction in the Marathwada region, particularly in Solapur district, where crops, livestock, homes, and businesses have suffered damage.
State NCP unit president Sunil Tatkare said, "NCP's ministers, legislators, and MPs will donate their one-month salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund as assistance towards relief for those affected by heavy rain and floods."
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde added that legislators and ministers of his party would also contribute their salaries to extend support to those impacted.
