Parts of Maharashtra recorded above normal daytime temperatures on Thursday, indicating the continuation of warm conditions across the state.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued by the IMD, several parts of the state including Mumbai were reeling in hot weather conditions as Santacruz observatory recorded 38.7 degrees Celsius.
In Mumbai, the observatory at Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius, which is 4.5 degrees above the seasonal normal. The minimum temperature in the area was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees above normal.
As per the data, the Santacruz observatory reported a higher maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, which is 5.7 degrees above the normal level. The minimum temperature in Santacruz stood at 22 degrees Celsius, around 2.1 degrees above normal.
Several cities in Maharashtra cross 38 degrees Celsius mark
Across the state, several cities reported high daytime temperatures. Jalgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, while Solapur registered 38.4 degrees Celsius, among the highest in the region.
Aurangabad and Malegaon both recorded maximum temperatures of 36.8 degrees Celsius.
Coastal areas also experienced warm weather. Dahanu recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius with a minimum temperature of 23.4 degrees Celsius.
In Ratnagiri, the maximum temperature reached 36.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 22.1 degrees Celsius.
Other parts of the state also saw relatively high daytime readings. Nashik recorded 36 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature and 15.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature. Parbhani registered 37.2 degrees Celsius during the day, while Sangli recorded 36.9 degrees Celsius.
Temperature contrast in western region as Kolhapur warms, Mahabaleshwar stays pleasant
In the western region, Kolhapur reported a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. Hill station Mahabaleshwar remained comparatively cooler with a maximum temperature of 29.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 18.4 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels varied across the state. In Mumbai, the relative humidity at 8:30 am was recorded at 55 per cent in Colaba and 59 per cent in Santacruz.
The weather department observations indicate that temperatures in many parts of Maharashtra remain above normal, suggesting persistent warm conditions across several districts.
IMD sounds yellow alert for Palghar, Thane, Raigad; Mumbai AQI at 82
The IMD issued a yellow alert on Thursday and predicted hot and humid conditions at isolated pockets in parts of Maharashtra including areas of Konkan region.
Districts including Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are under alert, indicating that these areas are likely to experience hot weather conditions during the day.
According to IMD, the overall maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may remain near 23 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai and its adjoining areas have been witnessing hot weather conditions for the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, as per the SAMEER App, Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 82 on Thursday, which falls under the ‘satisfactory’ category.
