Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday accused the central led BJP government of conveniently spreading misinformation about the economic conditions of India to cover up the ‘massive failures.’

He asserted that the government has significantly weakened in the section of the Indian economy over the past eleven years, reported ANI.

His recent post on X says, “The Modi government has made it a habit to spread lies about the economy to hide its gross failures! For 11 consecutive years, this incompetent government has been destroying every sector of the economy. The truth is here.”

Since Monday, Kharge has been sharply criticising the government after Narendra Modi completed his 11 year serving as the Prime Minister. The Congress president claimed that the BJP led administration has ‘ruined’ the country and their assurances of ‘achhe din’ has turned into a ‘dreadful dream.’

He highlighted that the commitment of doubling the income of the farmers was not fulfilled, also the safety of women is currently ‘tattered.’ He further accused the government of atrocities against minorities and alleged that their contribution to the society has been marginalised.

While addressing a press conference on May 23 of the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting on 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat 2047', NITI Aayog CEO, Subrahmanyam, said, “We are the fourth-largest economy as I speak, a USD 4 trillion economy. This is not my data; this is the data from the IMF. India today is larger than Japan. It's only the United States, China, and Germany that are larger. If we stick to what is being planned, what is being thought through, it's a matter of another two to three years; we would become the third largest economy.”

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi said that the pressure has increased after surpassing one level higher in the top global economies list. He also claimed about his clear vision to develop India to be a ‘Viksit nation’ by the year 2047.

While addressing a public rally in Gandhinagar, PM recalled the excitement among the youth when India surpassed the United Kingdom, a country that ruled India for over 200 years.
