College on strike? Mumbai teachers

Thousands of professors in Maharashtra will boycott work on Wednesday to protest several unresolved issues with the Central government. The professors, who hail from the Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratangiri and Sindhudurg regions of the state, are joining hands with All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO), which had called for a mass one-day casual leave on October 5, globally observed as International Teacher's Day.
