Mumbaikars to pay more for travelling on local trains
Updated On: 31 December, 2012 07:36 PM IST | | A Correspondent
Fares for local trains to suburbs set to rise from January 1 to help repay the loan taken for Mumbai Urban Transport Project.
Mumbaikars will have to shell out more for their daily commute on suburban trains from January 1.
Train passengers in Mumbai will have to pay Rs 2 to Rs 4 more for their daily journey as the Railways have decided to increase the surcharge on suburban train services in the metropolitan due. The earning from surcharge will help railways to repay the loan taken for Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), which is involved in the upgradation of the rail network in Mumbai.
