While most leaders have hefty bank balances to back them, the 25-year-old Independent candidate, who makes a livelihood by selling milk and vegetables, doesn't even have enough to campaign. Discussing the details of his assets, Thakran said, "I have only my motorcycle, two rings (weighing 5 gm each), Rs 12,820 in my bank account and four expired insurance policies.u00a0 But financial crunch can't hamper my confidence or commitment." He further said, "My friends will collect funds for my campaign. But first, I need money to print hand bills and posters." Thakran, a final-year distance learning graduation student, calls himself an honest leader of youngistan (youngsters). "If I come to power, I'll involve youngsters in strengthening the democracy, besides motivating them toeradicate elements hindering all-round development of Gurgaon. Moreover, I want to empower women," said Thakran. With only Rs 12,820, he aims at improving the civic amenities in Gurgaon and put the Millennium City on the list of the country's top cities. "Gurgaon is lagging in terms of civic services and infrastructure. Erratic water and power supply, bad roads and above all a chaotic law and order situation plague life here. If I get an opportunity, I will change the scenario," he said.
